Briefings from your Local Policing TeamNovember 26th 2009Crime Update On 18th November a farmer from Kingstone reported that one of his sheds had been broken into sometime during the previous three weeks, and a Stihl petrol chainsaw and strimmer had been stolen. A snackbar on the A49 at Callow was broken into overnight 16th/17th November and damage was caused inside, as well as food items being taken. Suspicious vehicle Please keep an eye out for a white Ford Transit van, part registration number S3**RAD, the occupants of this vehicle are involved in thefts of holly - yes, it's that time of year again! Scam warnings I have included details of recent scams in this briefing, one lengthy description of a phone scam to obtain your visa card details forwarded from Devon Police, the other you may already be aware of involving a card being put through your door from an alleged parcel delivery company. The Trading Standards Office is making people aware of the Following scam: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the Premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk Thanks
