Scams There is a very plausible scam doing the rounds at the moment, and we have had several reports in this area. A person's e-mail address book is hacked into, and an e-mail is sent to everyone in that persons address book with a story that he/she is on a foreign trip and has been mugged and lost everything - money, passport etc. They are asking for money to be transferred to a bank account for the embassy in that country just so they can return home, and will pay the money back as soon as they return. As the e-mail comes from that person's e-mail, and is signed by them, many people have fallen for it. www.actionfraud.org.uk/home This is the Action Fraud website, where you can find out about all sorts of frauds and scams like the one described above, and where you can also report such frauds. Get Warm - Stay Warm This is a project funded by the Department of Health to help reduce the effects of a cold home in Herefordshire this winter. If you know anyone in your neighbourhood that you think would benefit from some free assistance - cold weather packs, extra meals for vulnerable people, housing inspections to check for excess cold, heating provision etc, please get in touch and we will forward your concerns to the relevant partner agency. On the subject of cold weather and possible snow and ice, we are very pleased to have our 4 x 4 back at Peterchurch, which will ensure that we will be able to reach all the isolated parts of our very rural patch, even in bad weather!
