Briefings from your Local Policing Team

27th April 2009

Just a couple of things to bring to your attention today.

400 welsh slates have been stolen from a property in Llanwarne in the past week.

On 22nd April it was reported that a trailer was stolen from a property in Garway.  The trailer is described as home made with a black frame and wooden panels.  There was no tailgate and a hole has been cut in the middle of the front section.  It had plastic mudguards.

Finally, please pass on the following news item to your communities -

The CORGI register for approved gas fitters has changed as of 01 April 2009.  The new register will be called the Gas Safe Register and will be managed by Capita.

Installers will need to be registered on the scheme to operate legally.

The new Gas Safe Register brand is owned by the Health and Safety Executive and is on loan to Capita for the duration of its contract.

Capita is currently in discussion with energy companies to get the ‘Gas Safe Register’ logo on customers’ utility bills.

The director of public awareness at Gas Safe Register has said “our over-arching message is always to use a Gas Safe Register engineer, check their ID every time and do not give rogue traders a chance”.

Further information and an example of the Gas Safe Register logo can be found at www.heatingandventilating.net/news/print.asp?id=5919
